Corgon is a shielding-gas mixture of argon and carbon dioxide used mainly for MIG/MAG welding. The argon provides a stable shielding environment, while CO₂ contributes to arc characteristics, heat transfer and penetration.
Compared with 100% CO₂, argon/CO₂ mixtures can provide better arc stability and reduced spatter, depending on the mixture and welding conditions.
